Charity Partner Highlights

At Hope Ministries, we believe in a holistic approach to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and children. That’s why we provide both emergency, rescue services and long-term life-recovery programs, meant to help individuals and families break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, abuse and poverty.

Hope Ministries operates from the following ministry centers:

Bethel Mission—our 110-bed emergency shelter for homeless men, open since 1915
Door of Faith—our 102-bed long-term life-recovery center for men, open since 1969
Hope Center for Women and Children—our 48-bed facility offering short-term programming and long-term life-recovery for single women and mothers with children, open since 2004
Hope Café—our community dining hall, serving three free meals every day of the year
ENCORE Thrift Stores—our thrift ministry and donation and recycling centers, with two locations: 4640 Merle Hay Rd and 500 E Army Post Rd
Administrative Offices—housing our president’s, business, HR and development offices.

Hi y'all! I'm Marisa, a local mom of 2 and lover of Just Between Friends!

I am so excited to bring this type of event to the Des Moines area. I truly believe that it benefits everyone in the community.

Families sell their slightly used gear and make extra money. Other families purchase the slightly used gear and save tons of money. Unsold items (those marked to donate) are donated to our charity partner, Hope Ministries, to give to those in their care or for use in their Thrift stores which in turn feeds the homeless.

This event truly brings this community together, and I am so happy that you are choosing to be a part of it.
